Cullowhee, North Carolina – West Carolina Men’s Golf returns to action in its final tune-up event before the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship, traveling to Spartanburg, South Carolina, for the Wofford Invitational held at Spartanburg Country Club, par 72, 6,712 yards.

The 54-hole tournament will take place over two days on April 11 and 12. Monday’s program features 36 holes of continuous play beginning with tee times set for 7:40 a.m., with Tuesday’s final round scheduled for tee times of 8 a.m. Live scoring from each round is available online via GolfStat with a link to CatamountSporsts.com.

In addition to the tournament-hosting Catamounts and Terriers, the 18-team field includes golfers from fellow SoCon foes Mercer and Samford. Rounding out the field were competitors from Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Elon, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, George Washington, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Presbyterian, Radford , USC Aiken, USC Upstate, UNC Wilmington and Winthrop.

“It’s good to be back on a track that we know with good predictions,” the WCU head coach said. Tim Eckberg. “We learned a lot at Chambers Bay – and with a quick turnaround, it was just about working on the little things leading up to this event.”

West Carolina will field a very similar score of five for the Wofford Invitational, led by a freshman Jacques Peacock. He will be flanked by junior Magnus Pedersen at No. 2 and Senior Louis Theys as the third seed. Rounding out WCU’s score, five are sophomores Presten Richardson and senior Tumi Kúld.

WCU tied for second with host Wofford in last year’s event, shooting a par 859 from 5 under to tie for second. Two returning Catamounts — Richardson and Pedersen — finished in the top 10 at last year’s tournament, tying for second and fifth, respectively.

Eckberg added: “With our final pre-conference update, it’s a good time to put it all together and release some numbers. This week was a big one for us last year, finishing tied for second and propelling us into SoCon. We’re looking for the same this week.”
