As spring weather and warmer temperatures arrive, the City of Fort Morgan is offering a cash incentive for the development of a cooling system for residences.

The program offers a $30 cash incentive to homeowners who have their cooling system fixed by an HVAC contractor, regardless of the type or age of the cooling system (air conditioner or air to water heat pump).

The program is one of five energy efficiency programs offered by the city in partnership with its wholesale electricity supplier, the Nebraska Municipal Energy Agency. Each program offers cash incentives to homeowners who make energy efficiency upgrades.

The other four programs include:

Smart thermostat program

Provides a cash incentive of up to $100 paid directly to residential customers to help cover the cost of installing an eligible smart thermostat.

Commercial LED Lighting Program

Provides cash incentives paid directly to commercial customers to help cover the cost of lighting upgrades and replacements.

Attic insulation program

The Attic Insulation Program offers cash incentives of $0.15/per square foot with a maximum incentive of $300 per existing residential unit for attic insulation.

High efficiency heat pump program

Provides cash incentives of $400 to $3,000 to residential owners who install a new heat pump system in their residential single family home.

All five programs are available to customers of the City of Fort Morgan.

For more information on each program, visit the city’s website at www.cityoffortmorgan.com and find the Light and Power (Electric Department) page under “Departments”. Or go to mean.nmppenergy.org to download program guidelines and application forms.
